Concert Outfits

Whenever I go on tumblr, I always see loads of people asking questions about what to wear to concerts or festivals, and sometimes the answers they receive are pretty disastrous. So as someone who has been to her fair share of concerts and festivals, ranging all the way from bands like A Day to Remember, where the crowd is pretty rowdy and can be difficult to maneuver, to performers more along the lines of Sigur Ros, where everyone is mellow, both inside and outside, I thought I would share some tips and tricks that I've learned over the years.

Starting from the bottom with the feet, you want to make sure you are comfortable. If you plan on doing any dancing at all, or standing in the middle of a crowd, you do not want to be wearing heels of any kind. So wedges, stilettos, even slightly heeled booties or flatforms are generally speaking out of the question. I personally don't like to wear anything but tennis shoes, but if you have a pair of comfy boots that you want to wear go right ahead. That being said, do not wear your new or favorite pair of shoes to a concert, because they will get ruined. Granted, shoes aren't always ruined, but it always ends up being the case that when you wear a pair of shoes you love you end up ruining them. As a final rule, do not wear open toed shoes. Flip flops may seem like a good idea when going to a festival in the summer, but again if you end up in a crowd (which is where you'll want to be, trust me) someone who made the bad decision of wearing heels will step on your feet, and it will hurt like a bitch. So basically, I would just always recommend tennis shoes. They're sturdy, replaceable, comfy, and its totally acceptable to have muddy or dirty sneakers.

As far as clothing goes, in general you should stay away from skirts or dresses. If you're going to a concert that's in a stadium or something, where you'll be way off in the stands in an assigned seat, then a skirt or a dress is fine so long as you're comfortable in it. If you're not comfy, don't wear it - when you're at a concert, you want to enjoy the show and lose yourself in the music, not constantly be worried that your skirt is riding up or your top is falling down. If you're going to a festival or you've got a general admission ticket where you'll be standing and dancing and pushed around in the crowd (it will happen, trust me) then I would recommend jeans and a t shirt. Again, do not wear your favorite pair of jeans or your favorite top, as it will get ruined. I'm not saying you should go in an outfit you hate, because you do want to look cute, but don't wear something that you'll be heartbroken if it gets ruined is all. Some people will tell you never to wear a band t shirt for the band you're going to see, but if you love the band or that shirt that much then I say go for it! I've certainly done that before, and it had no effect on my experience whatsoever. You might want to bring a jacket if it's outside or at night or you get cold easily, and for that I would recommend a sweatshirt that zips up and that can fit in a bag that's not too huge. No one wants to be lugging a giant jacket around with them, and no one wants to have a huge bag weighing them down in the middle of a crowd. There might be coat check at the concert you're going to, but chances are there won't be so be prepared to hold onto everything you bring.

As for hair and makeup, it is certainly fun to go all out, but it's very likely you'll get hot in the crowd and if you cake on the makeup, it could get quite messed up (and I doubt you'll want to carry around a giant makeup bag with you). Simple is always better, and for the most part foundation is not necessary, because the lighting will be terrible and most people won't be looking at you anyways. For hair, you can do whatever you like, but if you leave it down it will get messed up by the end, so I recommend bringing a hair tie with you to throw your hair up into a ponytail of it gets too messed up or it starts to get in the way.

And last but certainly not least, bring an attitude ready to have fun! Concerts can be absolutely amazing, but not everything will go perfectly. Don't let some little thing like your hair getting messed up or someone stepping on your shoes ruin the night. And if you want my advice, make sure you join the crowd. Even if you're at a festival and you've never heard of this band in your life, or its not your style of music, or its "just the opening act" for the band you really came to see, join the crowd! Dance your butt off! Be merry! Even if you walk away from it without a new band to love, you'll still have had a super fun time.

An Update (of Sorts)

So I realize it's been quite a while since I last posted anything on here, and I apologize for that. I've been doing my best to get back into the swing of things with school, like actually attending all of my classes and doing a ton of reading, along with going to the gym and having a social life, etc. so it's taken me a while to find a balance with everything. However I have been working on a few ideas for posts, which I think you guys are going to love and I'm really excited to share them with you all very soon!

That being said, I've also been thinking lately that I might want to take this blog in a little bit of a different direction. I have lots of fun making posts about clothes and various things like that, but I think it would also be really fun to make more posts about books, or music, or just general happenings. I toyed with the idea of making another blog, but since I'm finding it difficult enough to keep up with this blog and everything else in my life, I think I'm going to combine the two. So be on the lookout for some new kinds of posts!

Yep, that's basically it. I just wanted to let you all know that I am not dead, and I am not abandoning this blog, things just got a little busy there for a while. Let me know what kind of posts you would like to see here in the future in the comments below, and I will be updating this blog very shortly!

Sephora x Disney The Little Mermaid Kiss The Girl Perfume

Back in August Sephora had their last installment of a collaboration with Disney where they produce a limited amount of themed perfume, eyeshadow, compacts, and (I think) lipstick. They started with Cinderella, then went to Jasmine, and ended with Ariel. If any of you know me in real life this shouldn't be too huge of a shock, but The Little Mermaid has always been my favorite disney princess ever since I was a little girl, and so when I found out that Sephora had a collection centered around her I knew I needed at least part of it, and that need only increased when I found out the perfume was called "Kiss The Girl", probably my favorite scene from that movie.

When I first heard of this and decided that I must have it, it was completely out of stock, so of course, I did what I do best, and scoured eBay until I found a couple of nice sellers with the products I wanted. However, lucky for you all, they have just recently restocked everything (all three princesses) over at Sephora's website! You can snatch it up here.

I got the perfume in rollerball form from this incredibly nice seller on eBay, here. I don't think she has any more of the perfume in stock, but she's got lots of other products and is super sweet and accommodating, so I recommend her shop 100%! In addition, she sent me a NARS nail polish and a sample of Maracuja Oil, entirely for free. Seriously, I don't think I could exaggerate how nice it was to do business with her.

When my perfume finally arrived here from the states, it was in the prettiest packaging I've ever seen, and it honestly smells so nice. It's not too strong or sweet, but its not overly musky either. I'm not very good at describing scents, but its supposed to have notes of bergamot, wet cucumber, ozonic accord, water notes, wild lilac, starfruit, white musk, sandalwood, and ambergris. I know my taste, and I love things with peach scents or scents that are inspire by water or the ocean, and I was not disappointed.

Happy shopping!

H&M Coats Under £35

H&M currently has a lot of great items in stock, but they're coats and jackets are probably the highlight. I'm planning on buying one for when it gets a little colder, but I have yet to decide on one! So, I've created a list of my top 5 coats from H&M under £35 and I'm asking you guys for help in deciding. Also, just to share how awesome these coats are with you all.

Let me know in the comments below which jacket is your favorite!

Monk Shoes

Lately I've noticed that Topshop has been selling a type of shoes called Monk shoes. I'm not sure if they've got the same name everywhere, but these Monk shoes from Topshop (apart from having an awesome name) are really cute, semi-formal flat shoes that generally have a buckle on the front and no laces. They're interestingly shaped and structured, and I think that they add a level of uniqueness to any outfit.

I, personally, am completely in love with two specific pairs - the Matie Two Tone Monk Shoe for £34 and the Kava Brogue Monk Shoes for £55 - so I've made a few sets of some different kinds of outfits I would pair them with. And hopefully soon, I'll be able to post some reviews on them! Cross your fingers for me.

Since the Kava Brogue Monk Shoes are entirely black, in my opinion they look best with dresses or skirts, or in general an outfit that is slightly more formal. To make them a little more casual, pair it with some boyfriend jeans and a button down.

For the Matie Two Tone Monk Shoes, they look best paired with jeans in a more casual outfit or a bright, summery outfit. Add in some gold accessories to accent the gold buckle, and you're good to go.

Since last years big winter shoe trend was cut out boots, I feel like these kind of shoes will be fashionable this winter. What do you guys think of Monk shoes? Let me know in the comments below!

Clothing Review: Zara Skort in White

So the other day I was in the Zara shop browsing and entertaining myself, when I noticed that my store had the white skort in my size. I've been eyeing it for a while, and eventually I will probably get it in a bunch of colors off of eBay, so I decided to try it on. And let me tell you, it is absolutely amazing.

I was a little apprehensive at first because I didn't think it would be as flattering on me, but I was wrong (and happily so!). I definitely don't have a thigh gap, but it was just as cute on me in my opinion. It's a great length in the front, and while it may be a little short in the back it's not really an issue because it looks like a pair of shorts from behind. And while a lot of times white can be very see through, the Zara skort is made with a nice material and its a good thickness so you won't be flashing everybody when you wear it. That being said, it's still white, so you really shouldn't wear hot pink underwear with it. On top of that, it's incredibly comfortable and soft. So if you've been considering buying this, I absolutely one hundred percent recommend this! If I wasn't so poor I would be buying it in so many different colors.

So do you love this skort as much as I do? Let me know what you think in the comments!

Mail Goodies!

I got some packages in the mail the other day, and like every other person in the world it made me incredibly happy, so I've decided to make a post and show you all what came in! It's really not terribly exciting, but the fact that it came through the mail makes it exciting to me.

The first of the two packages was this Burberry Body perfume. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, especially considering the price I got it for, and it came in a super cute packaging. I'll be doing a review of sorts on this scent soon, so keep your eyes peeled for it!

And the other package contained even more nail polish. Amazon has become my latest addiction, and they have the best deals on OPI and books, so I've gotten a LOT of those in the mail. In particular I wanted a few colors from their autumn San Francisco collection (hometown pride and they're all gorgeous colors!), and then I picked up some colors I had seen in a store and really liked. From left to right they are "First Date At The Golden Gate", "Bastille My Heart", "Incognito In Sausalito", and "Can't Find My Czechbook".

Not a whole lot, but some fun little goodies none the less. Once my other two perfumes come in the mail I might do a perfume collection post. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Lipstick Collection

Over the last few days, I've bought quite a bit of lipstick. In the past I'd never really been much of a lipstick person, but lately I feel I am becoming one. For some reason, I absolutely can not wear lip gloss, or basically anything shimmery on my lips, so I've taken a shining to matte (I guess) lipstick. I'm very picky with the color and quality of lipstick that I buy, because I feel like a lot for not go well with my coloring and my lips are almost always dry, and some lipsticks make them look terribly chapped when they aren't.

But anyways, I thought I'd show you my collection of lipsticks!

I have ten in total, and all from various stores. The four on the left are part of the latest Kate Moss for Rimmel London collection and they are absolutely amazing! The quality is great, and I love these colors - if you can get your hands on a few then I definitely recommend getting them. The next two are from a random store that I found in Amsterdam, and they're very nice and very cheap. The Gold by Giles ones are from New Look, and the last two are from Mac and Makeup Forever, in that order. The Makeup Forever one was a free sample I got a while ago from Sephora.

If you can get your hands on any of these lipsticks, I absolutely recommend them all.

Bloglovin and Tumblr

I've been meaning to get around to this for a while, but I finally got some "fall cleaning" done for my blog, and I've created a bloglovin and tumblr to go along with this blog! If you sign up for bloglovin and follow this blog, you'll get updates whenever I post something new on here. If you follow me on tumblr, I'll probably update you all myself when I post new things, and you'll also get to see my polyvore creations and other things that I see and reblog - basically, randomness.

So yeah. I'm trying to make this more organized and easier for everyone on here. Let me know what you think!

Amsterdam Haul!

As some of you may know, I went to Amsterdam for a few days last week! It was absolutely beautiful, and I bought a few things while I was there. But while I'm sharing this with you all, I thought I'd include some pictures I took while there.

One of the many gorgeous canals! We went on a night canal cruise and rented a canal bike for an hour, an they were both so fun! If you can only go on one though I would recommend the canal cruise.

The view from our hotel room.

A cheese shop!

We wandered into the flower market the first day we were there and there were drying flowers hanging everywhere! It was so beautiful.

And now, on to the purchases I made.

We popped into a random little beauty store and I picked up a few things. It was so cheap and still nice, so I couldn't resist. I bought this cool mermaid-y gold nail polish, a coral makeup bag, and two lipsticks.

I finally went to a Monki store! I've ordered a few things online before, but never a t shirt and I've never been to a store! I know it's kind of dorky but I was excited. I am definitely going to be getting some more things from them in the future - most of their things are pretty cheap, and right now their selection is so cute! I grabbed this top because it reminds me of the Topshop Contrast Rib Neck Top from Boutique. (P.S. Please ignore the fact that it is upside down, apparently I am technologically challenged cause I can not for the life of me figure out how to fix it)

And last but not least, I picked up this little souvenir windmill. Because its absolutely adorable and I like picking up little nick nacks like this when I travel places.

Amsterdam was so fun, and I would love to go back and see more of Holland soon! You all should definitely try and get there at some point.

Caro

New Look Shoes

There are a few stores that I absolutely love and check up on fairly regularly because I have a problem. Lately, the stock at New Look has been pretty dang awesome. A week or two ago I bought an adorable maroon bobble hat that looks just like one that Topshop had in stock last year, and it was only £5!

Because I've ordered things online from them before, I get emails from them, and I got an email the other day with a mystery discount and I get a student discount on top of that, so I'm doing a little shopping! Their sale right now is awesome, but I am especially in love with the current stock of shoes. Here are my favorites for under £30.

These are my personal favorites for under £30, but there are tons of other cute shoes. I'm definitely gonna buy a few pairs, so I figured I'd give you guys an idea of how I would style them.

These maroon brogues would look absolutely amazing with a jumper and some jeans, nothing too exciting in color scheme.

For these boots, I would pair them with some black skinny jeans, a clutch, and a cool geometric print oversize shirt.

These heeled cut out boot are a little more formal, so I would pair then with a cute black dress, an interesting bag, and a cute hairstyle.

These boots are a little similar to the previous ones, but the heel height is a good deal lower so they would be good for a little more casual look. I would pair them with a skater skirt, a plain top, and a cute jacket or sweater.

For this last outfit, I love the contrast between the leather look Chelsea boots and this white skirt from zara. Add in a cute black and white casual blouse, and a satchel and you're good to go!

Let me know if you guys get any shoes from New Look! Take advantage of these great deals.

Caro

Makeup Review: Kate Moss for Rimmel London

I went into Superdrug the other day, and the new line of Kate Moss lipstick caught my eye. I swiped a few colors on my hand, and instantly fell in love with pretty much all of them. For someone who is normally incredibly picky with lipstick, this was a miracle (it wasn't until later that I found out its the new matte collection and suddenly it made sense why I loved it so much). So of course I splurged a little and bought four of the five from the collection - the last color didn't look that great on me.

From left to right, the shades are 111, 107, 101, and 110. 111 is a gorgeous bright coral red, 107 is more of a berry red, 101 is a nice natural pink, and 110 is a beautiful coral pink. What I love about these shades is that none I them are too bright, which is perfect for someone like me who wants to expand out from just plain natural pink but who isn't ready for something too crazy just yet. And of course because they are part of the matte collection they don't have any shimmer in it, which I love because I hate shimmery things on my lips. The quality of it is smooth, and for the price it's definitely worth it. Be warned though, they will rub off and transfer very easily to clothing or hands. All in all though, a great purchase.

And as an added bonus, the cases are incredibly cute.

Caro

OPI Nail Polish Collection

I'm a bit of a nail polish fanatic - I paint my nails all the time (honestly its very strange if my toes don't have some sort of color on then hear round) and I love picking up new unique colors. One of my favorite brands is OPI, because of their multitude of colors and fun names. OPI is constantly producing new colors and limited edition collections, so I can always  find something new from them.

In total, I have 21 various shades of OPI, and I love pretty much every single one of them (there is one exception, which I will elaborate on later).

The first first five nail polishes in this row are very dark, so they don't pick up well on camera. The far left is called "To the Glitter End!" and is a glittery black polish that is a part of the permanent Sephora by OPI collection. The next is called "Siberian Nights" and its a gorgeous deep purple. After that is "Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow" which is a dark green, and two more from the Sephora collection, "Go My Own Way" and "Absinthe Makes the Heart" which are a shimmery blue and olive green respectively.

Next in line is "What Wizardry is This?", a dark sparkly gold liquid sand polish from the OPI Oz the Great and Powerful collection. It's limited edition and still available, so I recommend buying it because it is gorgeous and will not be here for long. Next is "No Spain No Gain", followed by "Cha-Ching Cherry", "I Have a Herring Problem", "Tiffany Case" (another James Bond liquid sand one) and "Mad as a Hatter", a sold out polish from the Alice in Wonderland collection a few years back (and probably my favorite of the bunch).

Continuing with the names, we have "Do You Lilac It?", "Traffic-Stopper Copper", "Second Honeymoon", "I Theodora You", "Gargantuan Green Grape-Matte", and "Stranger Tides". The only OPI that I regret buying is the "I Theodora You" because it is literally the exact same color as "Second Honeymoon".

Finally, we have "Stranger Tides" (accidentally put it in two photos, sorry!), "Neutral Beauty", "Only Gold for Me", "Cartwheels on the Catwalk", and last but not least "My Boyfriend Scales Walls".

I recommend any and all of these OPI nail polishes, and even all the ones I don't have. The colors and names are fun, and the quality is good, though to be honest most drugstore nail polishes are almost the same quality, but the OPI polishes have a wider brush that doesn't lose hairs the longer you have it.

Happy nail painting!

Caro

Style Steal: Topshop Physics Boots Update!

So a little while ago I posted some similars to these gorgeous, sold out topshop boots (the original post can be found here), and I just found another pair! They're from New Look, and the my look almost identical but they are so much cheaper!

I actually own the Topshop boots, and I've seen the New Look ones in person so I can honestly tell you that they are incredibly similar. The quality of the New Look ones seems a little bit less than the Topshop pair, but since they're about a sixth of the cost, you get what you pay for. The New Look boots are a little more geometric while the Topshop ones are smooth, and the heel of the New Look ones have tiny stripes on them. Overall though, they are extremely similar. So if you're more concerned with the quality and having the boots look exactly the same, I would recommend the Tony Bianco pair from the previous post, but if you want the height of the heel, definitely buy these.

Hope you enjoy!

Caro

An Update

This us just a warning to anyone who reads this blog, but I might not be on as much in the coming week - not only has my internet died (I'm using the wifi from the chippy across the street right now) but I'm going to Amsterdam on September 2-4! I am so excited, I can not wait to see that gorgeous city! But in the meantime, I will do my best to queue some posts for you all, but my internet is really spotty.

So basically, this is an apology in advance if there aren't as many posts in the coming week or so. I promise to be back as soon as I can!

Clothing Review: Asos Petite Exclusive Baseball Dress with Contrast Metallic Sleeves

Wow that's a long title...

Anyways, I just got this Asos dress in the mail (I was ordering a pair of boots and it was an impulse buy, whoops) and I am so in love with this dress I just had to make a review for it right away!

I don't think I'll be able to format this into a proper review, because I'm wearing the dress as I write this and oh my lord I don't think I've ever had a dress that's this soft! Honestly, I feel like I'm wearing pajamas, that is how comfy and soft it is. Looking at the pictures online, I was a little wary because a lot of times with cheaper dresses the material on sleeves like these are super scratchy and itchy, but these are not. The sleeves are a little thinner, but the rest of the dress is a nice thickness, were it'll be good for winter with some tights and a coat (and your bra won't show through).

It fits super well, and it's incredibly flattering too! Generally I shy away from things that are more fitted throughout, like bodycon dresses, but this dress is fitted and loose in all the right places. It's a great length on me too, given that its from the petite section and I'm only 5 feet tall.

Basically, I love this dress. It's probably my favorite thing that I've purchased recently (well, apart from Putt Putt Saves the Zoo).

Let me know what you guys think! Do you shop regularly at Asos? I haven't before, but I might have to start now, especially from their petite section.

Caro

Style Steal: Topshop Physics Premium Strap Boots

There seems to be a pattern lately where all of my blog posts are about shoes. So as not to dissapoint the trend, here's another one!

Topshop used to sell these gorgeous black, heeled, strappy boots that were absolutely gorgeous, but have since sold out. If you weren't lucky enough to get your hands on a pair because they were too expensive or just because you couldn't get them in time, I found some cute similar boots that are still for sale.

Topshop Physics Premium Strap Boots - SOLD OUT

Neither of these boots have heels quite as tall as the original, but they're very cute and have a similar look with all the straps.

Let me know what you guys think!

Makeup Review: Topshop Matte Nails in "Easy Peasy"

A little while ago Topshop came out with a range of matte nail polishes, and I finally picked up a couple shades the other day. I decided to try out "Easy Peasy" first, a nice light shade of gray. It goes on really well, and it has a nice matte finish to it (as one would expect). I've bought other nail polishes from Topshop before, and the quality of this is one is just as nice. I definitely recommend them, whether you want a normal shade or the matte ones (they're one pound more expensive, but that's not too bad).

Adventures

Now that I'm back in Scotland and my test is finally over and done with (hallelujah!), I have a month to spare before my classes start up again. Like a lot of people my age with no job and no classes, I can get sucked into the internet, spending days at a time inside watching videos or literally going through every single page of someone's blog. This time though, I've found myself in Europe with no commitments for a whole month, so I'm making a promise to myself not to waste this opportunity!

Basically, what I've told myself is this: Every week I have to do something that I feel is worthy of bragging to the world about, whether I make a post about it on here or its a story I share at parties, I have to do something awesome! A few ideas that I have lined up include going to a free festival with a friend, going to Amsterdam for a few days, and staying out at this one club until five in the morning! (You get a free t shirt if you do, and who am I to resist anything free?)

So what I'm doing, is just trying to do more. It really doesn't sound like much, but for someone who spends a lot of her life on the computer, I really could do with a little more adventure. And I encourage you all to join me!

Books Haul!

I thought I'd do a little bit of a different post today. In my effort to buy less clothes lately, I've apparently switched over to buying nail polish, and more to the point of this post, books. Amazon is a great way to get new books at a discounted price, and you can literally find any book you could possibly want! I also picked up a couple in the airport on my flight back to Scotland. I haven't read any of these books yet, but if any of you are interested I can post reviews on them once I've finished.

The autobiography of Anthony Kiedis, lead singer and guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Full of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I love this band, and my brother read it years ago and recommended it so I've been meaning to pick it up.

I have loved Kurt Vonnegut since the day I first read Slaughterhouse Five. I remember grabbing that book because I had seen quotes from it all over the internet and I liked them, and so I've done the same thing again. You can't go wrong with Kurt Vonnegut though.

John Green makes references to this book quite a few times in his book "Looking for Alaska", and since I read that last spring and absolutely loved it I've been planning to read this for a long time. I finally got my hands on it, and I can't wait to read it!

I've never actually heard anything about this book before, but I saw it when I was in the airport and it looked interesting. So we'll see how it is.

I keep seeing this book on tumblr (because it was written by the wife of a guy in McFly and I follow some people who love McFly) and it honestly looks so cute! I haven't gotten this one in the mail yet, but hopefully it'll come this week and I can get started reading it.

What are your favorite books right now? Any and all recommendations are welcome in the comments below!

Clothing Review: Topshop Notion Cross Over Mid Sandals

I recently got these heeled sandals from Topshop as a present, and I have to say I am absolutely in love with them! Not only are they gorgeous, but they're actually super comfortable (and not in the way that people insist heels are comfy when they're really just not quite as painful as other heels, they are actually so easy to wear). I am 150% in love with these shoes. I know that they're a little more on the expensive side, but they are honestly so worth the money.

I was a little tentative, because with the height and width of the ankle straps they could either be super cute or super unflattering, but they look so great on. The material of the shoes is really nice as well, and since the strap is a velcro one its really easy to put on.

Overall, I love these shoes. If they ever go on sale, or if you want to spend the money and you are looking for a great pair of heeled sandals, you could not find a better pair. Honestly, I kind of want to get these shoes in white too.

Let me know what you guys think!

Love,

Caro
