Style Icon: Lily Collins

Lily Collins has been making a lot of movies lately, and she's been popping up all over the place for red carpet appearances or just walking around. I've always seen her style as super preppy, but lately she's become more fashionable and I've been loving her look.

My personal favorite look was her 2013 Comic Con look, with the coordinating top and shorts. Her look can be anywhere from girly and classic to edgy and modern. While I may not always absolutely love her look, I certainly love how versatile her style is. I can definitely identify with the changing aspect of her look - one day I feel like a rock star, and the next I'll feel like Audrey Hepburn.

Lily wears a lot of clothes that are more polished, such as collared shirts, nice but casual jackets, and dark wash jeans. She can also wear clothes that are a bit more fun, such as patterned trousers or skater skirts and graphic tees. With her style, you can pretty much pair anything from her wardrobe together. Its cute and versatile, and practical - you can take any piece from day to night just by changing around a few pieces like shoes, or pants.

Tell me what you think of Lily's style in the comments.

Sales!

Sorry that I haven't been on here in a while, I've been a little busy trying to adjust to an entirely new time zone whilst simultaneously cramming for a test and moving in. But somehow, in the midst of all that, I still managed to pop down to the City Centre and check out the sales at Topshop and Zara. I'm really trying not to shop as much, so I only picked up a couple of things.

The first thing I got was this pair of jeans - it was the most expensive thing I got at 20 pounds, but that's a little more than half off the original price. They are absolutely amazing - high waisted and a nice, versatile color. I actually ordered tham along with another pair of jeans that were on sale too, but I don't think I'm going to keep the other pair.

When I went to pick up my jeans order, I took a look around the store and saw lots of cute things, but I really didn't feel like spending that much money. And then I found this absolutely gorgeous burgundy leather skater skirt for only 7 pounds! Its super flattering, and seems like a great piece for going out.

The last item I got form Topshop is this pair of trousers. They're currently on sale for 15 pounds from the website, and I just ordered them last night so I can't wait for them to come in. I've seen a few different people wearing a similar pair of trousers from Topshop that are black and white and they look adorable on. I'm not much of a color person, but for this price I figured I could try. Plus, I love how they styled it online with a white crop top.

The last thing I got was this jumper from Zara. Its a gorgeous cream color, and it feels really nice and has a cool zip down the back. For only 6 pounds, it was a great deal. I also got a sheer black jumper, but since I was lazy and didn't want to try it on in the store, when I tried it on at home the shoulders felt a little weird so I'm giving it to my flat mate.

I tried to be a little bit more practical this time around. At least I didn't get a ton of stuff.

Have you guys got any things from the sales? If so, what did you get? Tell me in the comments.

Caro

Mom Jeans

A little while ago, Topshop started selling a new style of jeans called Mom jeans. I know, the name sounds off putting. Why would you want to wear a pair of jeans named after a notoriously un-stylish look?

These jeans are actually really cute. They're high waisted, and very very nineties in their look. I personally love them - they look adorable and super comfy. Hopefully I will be able to pick up a pair for myself, so I thought I'd show you a few different ways I'd style them.

This first look is a casual one, for warmer weather. The light cardigan looks cute and comfy paired with this crop top and these canvas sneakers. I would wear this look anywhere - to class, to get some groceries, etc.

This look is also very casual, but for cold weather, maybe around fall or autumn, but you could always throw a jacket over it for winter. I would absolutely wear this outfit to class - it's cute, and casual.

This look is very summery, with the strappy crop top and the gold sandals. Personally I think this look is a little bit nicer, maybe something to wear out to a nice lunch.

And finally, this last look is for winter. With the long sleeve crop top and the big boots and warm jacket, it's good for walking around in the winter.

Basically, these jeans look amazing paired with a crop top, or a tucked in shirt to emphasize your waist.

Would you ever wear a pair of Mom jeans? Let me know in the comments!

Sales!

So I'm not sure if any of you are aware of this, but it is sale season once again, and almost every store has pages upon pages of deals on their website right now. And once again, my wallet has taken a painful hit as it does every time there are lots of sales. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good deal.

That being said, I thought I'd share some things I've picked up from various stores in the past few weeks.

So from the Topshop sale, I got a pair of Jamie rip knee jeans, a pair of joggers, a long sleeve crop top, a high-waisted check skater skirt, a fox jumper, and a washed v tee by boutique in green (I couldn't find a picture of the green shirt).

From the Zara sale I got a shirt with tiny skulls all over it and a tee with little tigers all over.

From the American Apparel sale I got a few different pairs of running and lounge shorts. It's not super exciting, but they were all only $5 and I have an obsession with pajamas and exercise clothes. When I don't go out, I tend to just sit around in sweatpants and other things like that/

And finally, I got a floral dress from LOVE clothing, and a floral playsuit from Lashes of London.

So that's everything that I've gotten from a bunch of different sales. I'm so excited for them to come in the mail! I have so many ideas for cute outfits for these pieces, from summer to winter.

Did you guys get anything from the sales? Tell me in the comments!

Style Icon: Emma Stone

Emma Stone: this style icon really doesn't need much of an introduction if you haven't been living under a rock for the past few years. She's hilarious and fun, and more than an awesome personality she has a cool sense of style.

I absolutely love Emma's street style. From day to day she lives in jeans and a top, and when it gets colder she adds a cardigan or a cute jacket. For events, especially recently, she rocks a timeless, 1940's inspired glamour in her dresses and her hair and makeup.

To get Emma's look you need a lot of basics, like dark wash jeans, loose and comfy t-shirts, collared shirts, and jumpers. You can mix and match anything from these basics, and you have a cute simple outfit! Then, to add something extra, you can layer on a cardigan or a boyfriend jacket or a biker style jacket with an interesting print. For shoes, Emma loves ballet flats and brogues for most of the year, and some simple sandals when it gets warmer. Add a large tote in a neutral color to any of these outfits, and you have an Emma Stone inspired casual look. She doesn't wear a lot of skirts or dresses casually, but she almost always wears them for events. For a more formal look, stick to 1940's inspired dresses and skirts.

The thing that I love most about Emma's style is how relatable it is. I could wear anything that she has worn and feel completely comfortable in it.

What do you guys think of Emma's style? Do you love it, or is it too simple for your taste?

Love,

Caro

Clothing Review: Topshop Moto Black Rip Knee Jamie Jeans

I ordered these jeans as a birthday present to myself last week from the Topshop sale, because I had been eyeing them for a while. They came in the mail incredibly quickly, I actually wasn't expecting them until later in the week after hearing about Topshop shipping speeds in the US.

I ordered a size up from the Topshop jeans I bought previously - I seem to have trouble finding a consistent jeans size in Topshop. The first pair I bought were a pair of boyfriend jeans, and I got a UK 10/US 6/W28 L30 and they fit perfectly - a little loose, but that's what boyfriend jeans are supposed to be. Then the next two pairs I bought, one from Ebay and one from Topshop, were the same size but they fit much tighter, and a bit more uncomfortable. So this time I ordered the next size up, which was a UK 12/US 8/W30 L30, and when I tried them on they were a bit loose which is pretty annoying. Unfortunately, the sizes at Topshop go up 2 at a time, which makes it difficult for me (personally) to find a perfect fit. But, as my dad told me, they'll probably shrink in the wash, and a pair of comfy jeans is never a bad thing.

On the plus side, Topshop jeans are always incredibly, incredibly soft. So while these jeans may not fit perfectly, I will definitely be keeping these because they feel like pajamas but they look like normal jeans. From now on though, I think I'm only going to purchase jeans from Topshop that I can try on in store.

Where are your favorite pair of jeans from? I'd love to know!

Caro

Colored Jeans

Colored jeans are a great and easy way to make an outfit a little more exciting. It takes the basic "jeans and a t shirt" look to a new dimension, but its just as lazy as a normal pair of jeans with a t shirt.

For yellow jeans, I love them paired with white or light brown things. To avoid looking washed out, you could add in some slightly darker colors like gray or a denim blue. However, I would steer clear of black - I think it looks too harsh paired with the light yellow.

For pink or salmon colored jeans, they look best paired with lighter colors like white, tan, or grey. Again, I would avoid a lot of black, because if your jeans are more of a salmon tint, when they're paired with black they can look a little halloween-y.

And finally, for the khaki jeans, in my opinion they look best with black, grey, or white. The earthy color of the khaki really contrasts nicely with both dark and light colors, so long as they are neutral.

So yeah. This is my take on how to style colored jeans. I actually own all of these colors, and they are super fun to rock. I definitely recommend finding a pair.

My Birthday!

So I know I didn't post that much over the weekend, but that was because it was not only Fathers' Day on Sunday, but my birthday as well! I'm 19 now! And it feels pretty much exactly the same as 18. But I'll let you guys know if that changes. The presents were pretty awesome too.

My best friend Sophia, who is absolutely amazing, knew how much I was in love with these Topshop Stain Glass Leggings, and ordered them for me for my birthday! So that should be coming in about a week, and I'll post some pictures when I get them. And they'll be coming at the perfect time too, I'm getting my wisdom teeth out on the 19th.

My mom took me to the mall to pick out a few presents, because she has this thing about ordering presents online for me and most of the things I sent her on my wishlist were online pieces. So we went around to a few stores and she bought me the watch, the midi ring (it has a turtle on it! So cute!), and the black brogues, from Macy's, Nordstrom, and Aldo, respectively.

In addition to what we got at the mall, my parents got me two gift cards, one to Zara, and one to Nordstrom. I plan on getting the tiger print top and something else, but I haven't decided yet. And since I don't really shop at Nordstrom (especially since I've moved to Scotland) my mom agreed to keep the gift card for herself, and buy me the playsuit from Motel that is the same value as the gift card.

And then, as a birthday present to me, Topshop put out an amazing sale yesterday, so I bought myself a pair of Topshop Jaime Rip Knee Jeans, and the Washed V Tee by Boutique.

My birthday and Father's Day was super fun. And now my plans for the summer consist of working and recovering from my wisdom teeth.

I hope you guys all had a great weekend!

Caro

Mail Call!

So my things came in the mail today! I was super excited because I didn't know when they were all supposed to arrive, and I was having a not so good morning, so seeing this stuff in the mailbox pretty much made my day!

This is my new passport case that I got off of Etsy. I had never had a passport case before, because in the airport I just leave it in a specific pocket of my bag, with other really important items. But, since I have to renew my passport to use for general traveling and still keep my old one for the student visa, I thought a passport case might come in handy. It's a nice, soft cloth material, and I got one with a cute constellation pattern on it (after all, I might become an astrophysicist or an astronaut one day). The pattern I got is sold out, but there are tons of other cute options all over Etsy, and at the store where I got mine, here.

I got this shirt from Hautelook a few weeks ago, and it took a while to ship to me, but I absolutely love it! It's really cute and flattering, and super comfy as well. It's nice and long, so I wore it today with a pair of leggings and some flip flops. This specific top isn't available anymore, but you guys should definitely check out Hautleook for tons of other good deals.

And last but not least, my jeans from Pacsun arrived today! I love these! The yellow jeans are definitely a lot brighter than what they look like online (and even what they look like in this picture), but as my friend says "if its less yellow than a taxi, then you're good". You can get the yellow jeans here and the boyfriend jeans here - and they're still on a special promotion, so they only cost $25 instead of $45/$50.

So yeah. These are all of the goodies that came in the mail today. I'm doing my best to limit what I buy to only useful and necessary things, so I shouldn't be putting up too many more haul type posts for a little while. If I can restrain myself, that is.

Love,

Caro
