Accessories Haul
I've been trying not to do as much shopping lately. So in Caroline terms, I've been buying little things instead, like accessories. Gotta take it one small step at a time, you know.
Anyways, I just thought I'd share some of the things I've bought with you guys.
I got a bunch of scrunchies and hair bows from American Apparel in a variety of colors that I liked. To be honest the price was a little ridiculous all total, but so far the quality of the scrunchies have been amazing! I've been wearing them for these past few days, and they're super cute. But that's just my opinion, I love scrunchies.
And I got some cute socks from Forever 21. Because you can never have too many socks. And why would anyone want socks that are boring and not totally adorable? I always loose socks, so for $1.50 these were a good buy.
And lastly I got this pair of tennis shoes, also from Forever 21. I originally saw a fake leather converse-style pair at H&M, but they were about $30, so when I found these for $12.80 I had to get them. They probably won;t last super long, and they are definitely not real leather (not for that cheap) but they're cute and I will definitely use them. Plus, you can't go wrong with cute tennis shoes, or even just cute flats.
If I have some time before I leave on Monday, I might try to head over to Brandy Melville for some rings (I saw Tanya Burr got some really cute ones from there).
Love,
Caro

Style Steals Part 2
So, I made a post back in June about these various pieces of clothing that I (or someone else) had found that looked nearly identical to another, more expensive, item of clothing that I wanted. Well I had so much fun making that one that I decided to make a part 2, with more style steals that I've found in my time surfing the web.
The first style steal that I wanted to share with you guys was this black t shirt with a white contrast neck. A while ago, Topshop had this gorgeous silk shirt, but it was $90 and sold out ridiculously fast! I've been looking for a cheaper alternative for a while, and I found one the other day when I was looking at the American Apparel sale. The AA Unisex Poly-Cotton Short Sleeve Ringer T-Shirt is a different material, and has the white contrast on the sleeves as well, but I think it looks almost identical and hopefully I will be purchasing it in the near future.
And who doesn't need a pair of classic denim shorts? I love the look of the AA Medium Wash High Waist Jean Cuff Short, but I do not love the price. Luckily, the Vintage High Rise Destroyed Denim Shorts from Forever 21 have a similar look and are a third the price! That being said, you get what you pay for - i.e. if you're looking for a quality, long lasting pair of denim shorts, I would go for the American Apparel ones because I think they would last you longer. I, however, am only in California for the summer, so prefer the cheaper Forever 21 pair.
Once again, I have been in love with these AA Printed High-Waist Jean Cuff Shorts for a while now, so I was very happy when I saw that Forever 21 released a pair of shorts similar to them! The Ditsy Floral Denim Shorts are $40 cheaper than the American Apparel pair, and just as cute. While there is some difference in the color of the shorts, and other minor details, overall these two shorts have very similar looks.
Last but not least, this is a special treat for anyone in the UK. River Island has two shorts that are incredibly similar to shorts from American Apparel! The Black Acid Wash Denim Shorts from River Island are almost identical to the AA Stone Wash High Waist Jean Cuff Shorts in black (left) and the River Island Black Tube Shorts are identical to the AA Stretch Twill High-Waist Side Zipper Short in black (right). And each pair of shorts is half the price of their AA twins! However, if you're in the US these River Island shorts are only a few dollars cheaper than the AA ones.
Let me know what you guys think! Do you want me to make more posts like this? Or do you have an item you want me to find a cheaper similar for? Let me know in the comments!
Love,
Caro

The Trend: Sunflower Print
High-waisted shorts are probably one of the most flattering things I have encountered in the world of fashion, and what better way to incorporate some sunflowers into your wardrobe than incredibly flattering shorts? These shorts are from American Apparel, and would look so cute with a simple, solid crop top in brown, some sandals, and a giant floppy hat if you're feeling daring.

These overalls are from pacsun, and they are such a cute combination of the sunflower print and overall trend, which is everywhere this summer. I actually own two pairs of overalls already - a short, light wash denim pair, and a long, mid wash denim pair. They are so comfy, and perfect for when you want to look cute and unique without a lot of effort. This patterned pair would look great with a white crocheted top underneath, and paired with some sandals or ballet flats.

If you're like me and bright yellow isn't really your color, this tea dress from River Island is a great alternative. It still has the allover sunflowers, but they are toned down a little and paired with a bright red, another great color for summer. Tea dresses are awesome because they are so comfortable, like a t shirt, but they have a little more shape and class than just a t shirt dress.

This minkpink dress is probably my favorite item on here. As a blonde, I generally do not look good in yellow, or sadly bright red. However, this dress is right up my alley, with a loose, flowing feel to it, a gorgeous blue or turquoise background, and patchwork style mesh of the sunflower print (not to mention its name, "Ashbury"). This dress would look amazing with a pair of ridiculously strappy gladiator sandals, in pretty much any color you want.

This crop top is from American Apparel, and as far as sunflower print items go it is probably the most versatile. I could see this going from summer to fall, possibly pairing it with some high-waisted denim shorts or a skater skirt in the summer, and a pair of high-waisted jeans in a dark wash and a loose grey cardigan for fall.

Personally, I think this trend is pretty awesome. However, I am aware that it is a very summery print, and most of these pieces are meant to be worn only in the summer. I definitely would not be rocking those sunflower shorts with sandals in the middle of winter in Scotland, no sirree. That being said, none of these prices break the bank, and so picking up one (or maybe even two) items in a sunflower print would not be a waste of money. Or, for those of us who live with their parents and don't have a job (me, sadly) jewelry in various sunflower designs is always an option. ;)
Love,
Caro
