Monk Shoes

Lately I've noticed that Topshop has been selling a type of shoes called Monk shoes. I'm not sure if they've got the same name everywhere, but these Monk shoes from Topshop (apart from having an awesome name) are really cute, semi-formal flat shoes that generally have a buckle on the front and no laces. They're interestingly shaped and structured, and I think that they add a level of uniqueness to any outfit.

I, personally, am completely in love with two specific pairs - the Matie Two Tone Monk Shoe for £34 and the Kava Brogue Monk Shoes for £55 - so I've made a few sets of some different kinds of outfits I would pair them with. And hopefully soon, I'll be able to post some reviews on them! Cross your fingers for me.

Since the Kava Brogue Monk Shoes are entirely black, in my opinion they look best with dresses or skirts, or in general an outfit that is slightly more formal. To make them a little more casual, pair it with some boyfriend jeans and a button down.

For the Matie Two Tone Monk Shoes, they look best paired with jeans in a more casual outfit or a bright, summery outfit. Add in some gold accessories to accent the gold buckle, and you're good to go.

Since last years big winter shoe trend was cut out boots, I feel like these kind of shoes will be fashionable this winter. What do you guys think of Monk shoes? Let me know in the comments below!

Sales!

Sorry that I haven't been on here in a while, I've been a little busy trying to adjust to an entirely new time zone whilst simultaneously cramming for a test and moving in. But somehow, in the midst of all that, I still managed to pop down to the City Centre and check out the sales at Topshop and Zara. I'm really trying not to shop as much, so I only picked up a couple of things.

The first thing I got was this pair of jeans - it was the most expensive thing I got at 20 pounds, but that's a little more than half off the original price. They are absolutely amazing - high waisted and a nice, versatile color. I actually ordered tham along with another pair of jeans that were on sale too, but I don't think I'm going to keep the other pair.

When I went to pick up my jeans order, I took a look around the store and saw lots of cute things, but I really didn't feel like spending that much money. And then I found this absolutely gorgeous burgundy leather skater skirt for only 7 pounds! Its super flattering, and seems like a great piece for going out.

The last item I got form Topshop is this pair of trousers. They're currently on sale for 15 pounds from the website, and I just ordered them last night so I can't wait for them to come in. I've seen a few different people wearing a similar pair of trousers from Topshop that are black and white and they look adorable on. I'm not much of a color person, but for this price I figured I could try. Plus, I love how they styled it online with a white crop top.

The last thing I got was this jumper from Zara. Its a gorgeous cream color, and it feels really nice and has a cool zip down the back. For only 6 pounds, it was a great deal. I also got a sheer black jumper, but since I was lazy and didn't want to try it on in the store, when I tried it on at home the shoulders felt a little weird so I'm giving it to my flat mate.

I tried to be a little bit more practical this time around. At least I didn't get a ton of stuff.

Have you guys got any things from the sales? If so, what did you get? Tell me in the comments.

Sales!

So I'm not sure if any of you are aware of this, but it is sale season once again, and almost every store has pages upon pages of deals on their website right now. And once again, my wallet has taken a painful hit as it does every time there are lots of sales. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good deal.

That being said, I thought I'd share some things I've picked up from various stores in the past few weeks.

So from the Topshop sale, I got a pair of Jamie rip knee jeans, a pair of joggers, a long sleeve crop top, a high-waisted check skater skirt, a fox jumper, and a washed v tee by boutique in green (I couldn't find a picture of the green shirt).

From the Zara sale I got a shirt with tiny skulls all over it and a tee with little tigers all over.

From the American Apparel sale I got a few different pairs of running and lounge shorts. It's not super exciting, but they were all only $5 and I have an obsession with pajamas and exercise clothes. When I don't go out, I tend to just sit around in sweatpants and other things like that/

And finally, I got a floral dress from LOVE clothing, and a floral playsuit from Lashes of London.

So that's everything that I've gotten from a bunch of different sales. I'm so excited for them to come in the mail! I have so many ideas for cute outfits for these pieces, from summer to winter.

Did you guys get anything from the sales? Tell me in the comments!

Cute Animal Jumpers

As a resident of Scotland, jumpers are an absolute necessity for the majority of the year. There are so many different kinds of jumpers, from graphic to chunky knit. One of the trends that I love is jumpers with animals on them, and I thought I would show you how I style some of mine.

I fell in love with this jumper when I first saw it months ago at Topshop because it has a dodo bird on it! I thought it was weird and yet still really cute and versatile, because while it has a funky bird on it the colors are monochromatic so it can be worn many different ways. I would wear this jumper with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and some cutout boots. Luckily, the Dodo Knit Sweat by J.W. Anderson for Topshop is on sale if you live in the US!

I just recently saw this jumper when I was looking through the sale at Topshop, and how cheeky is that little fox with his top hat? I just ordered it, and I am so excited to wear it come fall and winter. I would pair it with a pair of black skinny jeans, and I love these ones with the ripped knees, along with a pair of black brogues. And like the first jumper, the Knitted Hatted Fox Jumper is on sale if you live in the UK!

Do you have any sweaters with adorable animals on them? Tell me in the comments!

Style Steals

I love clothes. Seriously. I think it might be obvious, since I have a blog that is mostly about clothes. But occasionally, I fall in love with a piece of clothing that is ridiculously expensive. And since I am not currently a billionaire, I can't buy it.

Luckily, that's what the internet is for! If you search hard enough, there is bound to be a piece similar out there in the universe, and I love the feeling of finally finding something that you love for a better price.

I first saw this Maje playsuit a month or two ago, and fell in love with it. Unfortunately, it costs way too much money for me to buy it. But, the other day I was looking at a style blog and they posted this similar playsuit from Motelrocks and its on sale for $50!

This Michael Kors watch is gorgeous, but I would never spend that much money on a watch - I would be too afraid of breaking it to ever really enjoy wearing it. Luckily there a re plenty of cheaper options that look just like it - I personally have the Style&co one from Macy's, and its gorgeous. And both of these options are $30 or under.

I love this jumper with the tigers on it from Mulberry, but not only is it expensive but its sold out! This t-shirt from Zara has an almost identical pattern, with the two tigers sitting, but unfortunately its not a jumper. So while its not as good for winter as the jumper would be, its still super cute.

These are just a few examples of some style steals I've seen on the internet. Happy shopping!

A Pack Rat's Closet

I have way too many clothes. There, I said it, I  own too many items of clothing! I mean, its not as if I go out every day and buy five new things, all at full price, but sometimes it feels like that is the case. In reality, I find a lot of things at sales, or ebay, or thrift/charity shops, and a good chunk of what is in my closet now are things that I have had for years. Literally, I'm sitting on my bed right now and I can see a crochet tank top that I got from American Eagle when I was 12 for about $6. I think its safe to say that I am a bit of a pack rat.

But its time for that to change. I've graduated high school and completed my first year at university half way around the world - I don't need to hold onto things I've owned since middle school, even if they do still look fine. Besides, my parents are moving out of this house within the coming year, and I would not wish the horror of packing up my room as it is now on anyone. So I'm going to do what I do best: make lists. One list for clothes that I definitely want to keep, one list for clothes that I will get rid of, and then a list of all the clothes that didn't make it onto either list because I just forgot about them. For the clothes I forgot about, I'll wait a week or two to see if I use them, and then if not I donate them with the rest of the giveaway clothing.

And you know what the best part about going through and cleaning out your closet? Filling it with new goodies.

Love,

Caro

P.S. I'll post some before and after pictures of my closet for you lovelies when I finish.

My Love Affair with Ebay

For years I never bought anything on Ebay - I had gotten this idea in my head that it was super intense bidding on totally random objects from sketchy sellers, and so I was scared to give them my credit card information. A few months ago though, I took a chance, and ordered a really cute pair of shorts, and I have been in love ever since. So here is a list of five reasons why I love Ebay.

1. Ebay is a great place to find clothes or shoes that are no longer in stores. This is my number one reason simply because I am the type of person that will see a picture of someone from months ago wearing an adorable shirt, or a pretty dress, and I decide that I absolutely must have it.

2. Most of the time, the prices on Ebay are incredibly cheap. Of course, occasionally people list items as more expensive than when they were in stores, hoping to make a profit because you can no longer buy them anywhere else. And that, leads into reason number 3....

3. If you can't find what you want, or you've found it and the seller is asking way more than you want to pay, don't worry! Because Ebay is entirely individual sellers, the items for sale are constantly changing. If you don't find what you're looking for one day, you could very well find exactly what you want a week later. So don't give up hope!

4. When you finally find an item that you're looking for, after searching for a while and almost giving up, its incredibly gratifying. I think the biggest tip for finding specific items that I've learned is that most people do not the store's name for a product, and if its listed under the store's name then more people find it and it gets increasingly expensive.

5. The nice thing about bidding on items instead of just buying them, is there leaves some room for error when it comes to buyers remorse. You know, when you buy something and a few hours later start to question it, and maybe regret it? When you're betting on something, there is still the chance that someone else will come and bid higher. Besides, most of the time the prices are so inexpensive, that its okay if you don't wear it every single day, because you only paid a dollar for it, or something along those lines.

OOTD - Wisdom Teeth Consultation & National Donut Day!

It was pretty hot outside today, so I went with this sleeveless polka dot dress from T.K. Maxx (T.J. Maxx for the Americans out there), and I wore it with a pair of Topshop sandals, a Monki bag, a pair of New Look sunglasses, and a jumper from Primark (because doctor's offices are always freezing).
